Launched in 1939, the original reference 325 'Portugieser' was reportedly commissioned by two Portuguese merchants seeking a large wristwatch with chronometer-level accuracy. The 41.5mm model 228 case housed the caliber 74 (1939-1951, 304 units), caliber 98 (1944-1970, 329 units), and caliber 982 (1977-1981, 57 units). While the silver dial with Arabic numerals and feuille hands is most famous, various dial and hand styles were produced, totaling 690 limited units.
