Introduction
Welcome to WatchDataHub (https://watchdatahub.com). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect when you visit the website, create an account, contact us, or use live chat, and how we use that information.
WatchDataHub is a professional watch information database. We do not sell watches and we do not sell your personal information.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
- Account information: email address, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider), and profile details you choose to save.
- Google sign-in: if you use Google OAuth, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google.
- Favorites: watch models you save to your account.
- Error reports: if you report a data issue, we collect the page context, your description, optional screenshots, and an optional contact email. Anonymous reports may include a hashed fingerprint derived from IP address and browser user agent so we can limit spam.
- Email and live chat: messages you send to support@watchdatahub.com or through the website chat widget, including any files or contact details you include.
Information collected automatically
- Watch page views: when you open a watch detail page we increment an anonymous view counter used to rank Popular Watches. This count is not tied to your account.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, and general location inferred from IP, as processed by our hosting and security providers.
- Cookies and similar technologies: described in the Cookies section below.
How We Use Your Information
- Operate, maintain, and improve the database and website
- Create and manage accounts, favorites, and sign-in sessions
- Respond to support requests, error reports, and live chat
- Remember theme and similar preferences
- Rank popular content using aggregated, anonymous page views
- Protect the Service against abuse, spam, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not send marketing newsletters unless we clearly offer that choice in the future. We do not use third-party advertising pixels on the site today.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them as follows:
- Essential: sign-in and session cookies from our authentication provider (Supabase), and admin session cookies for operators. These are required for accounts and the admin area to work.
- Preferences: theme (light, dark, or system) stored locally in your browser.
- Live chat (Crisp): if the chat widget loads, Crisp may set cookies or similar storage so the conversation can continue, notify operators, and prevent abuse. This is a third-party service. See Crisp's policy linked below.
- Analytics (Google Analytics 4): when enabled, Google may set cookies or similar identifiers to measure how visitors use the site (pages viewed, device type, approximate location). Data may be processed in the United States. See Google Privacy Policy. You can also use Google Analytics opt-out.
You can block cookies in your browser. Blocking essential cookies will prevent sign-in and may break other features. Blocking or clearing Crisp cookies, or not opening the chat, limits what Crisp can associate with you on later visits.
Third-Party Services
We share information with processors who help us run the Service. They may process data on servers outside your country. We do not sell your information.
- Supabase: database, file storage, and authentication. Supabase Privacy Policy.
- Google: optional Google sign-in, and Google Analytics 4 when configured (page usage measurement). Google Privacy Policy.
- Cloudflare: domain DNS, HTTPS, and email routing for support@watchdatahub.com (messages to that address are forwarded to our support mailbox). Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
- Crisp: the chat widget in the corner of public pages. Crisp receives the messages you send, technical data needed to operate chat (which may include IP address and device information), and cookies as described above. Do not send passwords or payment card numbers in chat. Crisp Privacy Policy.
- Hosting: the website is served from our hosting provider (for example Vercel or a similar platform). Request logs may include IP address and URLs you visit. Vercel Privacy Policy applies if we host there.
- Images: some watch, brand, or movement images may be loaded from third-party CDNs (including manufacturer or catalog hosts). Your browser requests those URLs directly when a page displays the image.
The Service also links to manufacturer and other websites we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own.
Data Storage and Security
Account data, favorites, and reports are stored with Supabase. We use HTTPS in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We keep account data while your account is active. Aggregated watch view counts are kept as part of the catalog. Chat transcripts are retained according to Crisp's settings and our support needs. Email we receive is kept as long as needed to handle your request.
If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or anonymize personal account data within 30 days, except records we must keep for security, abuse prevention, or legal reasons (for example a fraud investigation).
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, email support@watchdatahub.com. We will respond within 30 days.
- You can stop using live chat and contact us only by email.
- You can sign out and request account deletion by emailing us.
- You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
International Data Transfers
We and our processors may store and process information in countries other than yours, including the United States and the European Union. Those countries may have different data-protection laws. By using the Service you understand that your information may be transferred internationally as described in this policy.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date on this page. Material changes may also be noted on the website. The updated policy applies from the date it is posted.
