Introduced in 2024, the OMEGA Speedmaster First OMEGA in Space 310.30.40.50.06.001 reinterprets the CK 2998 worn by Wally Schirra on Sigma 7 (October 3, 1962) — the first OMEGA in space — in a symmetrical 39.7 mm stainless-steel case with polished and brushed surfaces, a black aluminium bezel with a tachymeter scale (dot over ninety), and a stainless-steel bracelet with flat links and OMEGA's patented comfort-release adjustment. Its hesalite-like sapphire crystal with internal AR covers a CVD-coated grey-blue dial replicating certain 1960s CK 2998 examples, with applied hour markers and Alpha-style hands in vintage Super-LumiNova, a white-varnished central chronograph seconds hand, 30-minute/12-hour/small-seconds subdials, and vintage OMEGA logos. Power comes from the manual-wind Calibre 3861, a METAS-certified Co-Axial Master Chronometer with about 50 hours of reserve, and the solid caseback, engraved with 'THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE' and 'OCTOBER 3, 1962,' features a Seahorse medallion.
