In 1998, the Omega Speedmaster X-33 debuted as a modern-day Moonwatch, now dubbed the 'Mars Watch'. It came with a high-tech titanium case and an analog/digital movement featuring a specific set of functions. A second generation arrived in 2001 with several minor updates. Reference 318.90.42.79.01.001 is a special version of ref. 3291.50.00 intended for special order/military customers, such as the 105th Airlift Squadron.
