Upon its release, the 5070 marked Patek Philippe's return to a 'simple' chronograph after a four-decade hiatus. Initially launched in yellow gold with a black dial, the collection expanded in 2001 to include red and white gold options. The yellow gold 5070J was discontinued in 2004, whereas the other variations remained in production until 2008.
