Debuting in 2026 to replace the calibre 4161, it features a redesigned regatta countdown function that allows for programming solely through the lower pusher, replacing the previous bezel-based Ring Command system. This updated structure improves ease of use and intuitiveness during the intense pre-start sequence of a race. The calibre 4162 is constructed as a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch, ensuring the countdown begins instantly and accurately. Its regatta display utilizes an extra minute hand and a central seconds hand that move counterclockwise, allowing the remaining time to be read more intuitively as it nears zero. The movement keeps the Yacht-Master II's programmable countdown, which includes mechanical memory and synchronization on-the-fly, enabling users to save durations and adjust the display if the countdown is initiated prematurely or delayed. In addition to the updated countdown, the calibre 4162 features modern Rolex technology, such as the Chronergy escapement, a blue Parachrom hairspring with an overcoil, a large variable inertia balance with four gold Microstella nuts, and Paraflex shock absorbers. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides a power reserve of roughly 72 hours through a bidirectional Perpetual rotor self-winding system.
